Even the nomination for the highest category, the Premier, is a special distinction for KÜBLER, as the "Großer Preis des Mittelstands" is considered the most important German business award*. In the 30th year of the competition, a total of 4,600 companies qualified to take part in the prestigious business award. Only one in a thousand companies in Germany reaches this nomination list.
KÜBLER is regarded as a technology and innovation leader for the energy-efficient and climate-neutral heating of production, storage, logistics and other hall buildings. In 2023, the innovation-driven company surprised with the development of a world first for the economic and functional implementation of the energy transition in the building giants "halls" with their ceiling heights of 4 to 40 meters. Since its short time on the market, the innovative FUTURA multi-energy IR heating line has already won five prestigious awards.

"The nomination is a great success for our entire company," says Thomas Kübler, founder and managing partner of KÜBLER GmbH. After all, being nominated for this competition - for which, incidentally, you cannot apply yourself - is a ticket to the "network of the best". This is because the "Grand Prize for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises" is the only business award in Germany that looks not only at figures, innovations or jobs, but also at the company as a whole and its complex role in society.

"Our main aim is to convey respect and recognition to German SMEs for their perseverance in times of crisis and for their ability to innovate," says Dr. Helfried Schmidt. For the Chairman of the Oskar Patzelt Foundation and founder of the competition, the high level of participation in the nomination confirms the unbroken acceptance of the competition. And Petra Tröger, CEO of the Oskar Patzelt Foundation, emphasizes: "In comparison to other business competitions, this competition focuses on the holistic evaluation of a company, its overall business results and its sustainability and future orientation, not only for the company, but for society as a whole."

The focus of the approximately 100 jurors nationwide, who are active in twelve regional juries, is on the five competition criteria:
  • Overall development of the company
  • Creating/securing jobs
  • Innovation/modernization
  • Commitment in the region
  • Service/customer proximity (marketing).

The competition, which has been organized by the Oskar Patzelt Foundation since 1994, starts in its anniversary year under the patronage of former Federal Minister of Finance Peer Steinbrück with the motto "WITH INSURANCE TOWARDS THE FUTURE". The "Großer Preis des Mittelstandes" is the most coveted business award in Germany, according to WELT. The foundation was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit in 2008 and 2016, received the Company Change Award in 2015 and was among the top 10 German participants in the European Business Promotion Award in 2012 and 2021.
The hall heating specialist KÜBLER now has until April 15 to compile and submit informative documents. An independent jury will carry out a preliminary evaluation of the submitted company data by May 31. If the result is positive, the nominees reach the 2nd and therefore penultimate stage of the competition with the "jury list". It is documented with a certificate and presented publicly. This autumn, the winners will be honored at the regional awards galas in Würzburg (21.09.), Düsseldorf (28.09.) and on 19.10. at the 100th "Grand Prix of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises" gala in Düsseldorf.
