The government now wants to help the industry switch to environmentally friendly hydrogen.

Hydrogen has had a difficult time politically so far. There has been talk of banning gas and dismantling the grids. In terms of energy policy, this is sheer madness, says Thomas Kübler, Managing Director of indoor heating specialist KÜBLER. "Because there is a huge amount of potential in green gas, not least because we have an excellent infrastructure for it in Germany."

For this reason, and because both electrons and molecules (i.e. green electricity and green gases) are needed for the energy transition, the innovation leader has designed its new FUTURA generation of hall heating systems to be energy-flexible - open to electricity, hydrogen and other (biogenic) gases. The smart technology can variably use the energy sources that are currently available. After all, green hydrogen is an important component of the energy transition.

"The availability of affordable green energy - now also in the form of hydrogen - will continue to be an important location factor for industry in the future," said Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens).

The "H2Global" funding program was launched to push the hydrogen ramp-up in Germany and enable a functioning international market for green hydrogen. According to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, a corresponding agreement has now been reached for the supply of more than 250,000 tons of "green" ammonia for the years 2027 to 2033. The contracted company produces ammonia in Egypt using wind and solar energy, which is then converted into green hydrogen in Germany. Six months after ratification of the controversial GEG amendment, this is "...an important step in the right direction," says Kübler.
